Institutional Approach

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is a network of 34 technical university campuses, and the largest public university in Malaysia. Together, the university has put forth a comprehensive, community-wide framework and roadmap to achieving ambitious sustainability goals, such as the The UiTM low-carbon challenge 2030 for campus decarbonization. Their sustainability framework focuses on elements of the campus community, such as the economic, social and environmental well-being of students. The framework is used in university sustainability strategic planning, and incorporates psychological and personal issues confronted by students in fostering community commitment to sustainability.
