The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) operates a School for Transdisciplinary Studies, with a strong focus on urban sustainability. The school offers four transdisciplinary degree options integrating creative innovation and sustainability: a Bachelor of Technology and Innovation; a Bachelor of Creative Intelligence, integrating journalism, digital media and engineering; a Diploma in Innovation and a Master of Data Science and Innovation. All involve sustainability subjects and societal challenges and culminate in a final 3-month thesis project. Core pedagogical pillars across the School for Transdisciplinary studies are reflexivity, integration of diverse knowledges, complexity and real-world challenges. The School for Transdisciplinary Studies is partnered with the transdisciplinary Institute for Sustainable Futures, which drives research and teaching on sustainability, and offers consulting to external societal partners on wicked sustainability challenges.
