Institutional Approach

The vision of Chiang Mai University (CMU) is to be "A Leading University Committed to Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development through Innovation." As a result, CMU has named itself the 'Chiang Mai University for Sustainable Development Goals', and has made the 17 SDGs an integral component of the proactive and mission-based strategies which are deemed necessary to achieve the university’s six Strategic Objectives. A multi-phase framework is set out to acheive the SDGs at the university, with the pillars of Stewardship, Outreach, Education and Research. A central component is preservation of traditional cultural practices which are sustainable, here in the Lanna culture of Northern Thailand.
