Institutional Approach

Via several research centers and interdisciplinary study programs specializing in sustainability, the Universidad Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) combines innovative sustainability education with their mission to serve both the country and humanity. UNAM has undertaken co-creative pedagogical research to implement interdisciplinary education on sustainability, and transition the whole 'macro university' (8 higher education schools and 14 high schools) towards a mandate of sustainability. UNAM also offers a postgraduate degree in Sustainability Sciences that integrates planning, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering. UNAM has also experimented with bottom-up approaches to zero waste, collaborating with NGOs and a community of students, workers and academics
