The National University of Singapore has developed an ambitious green campus plan, with zero-waste and carbon-neutral policies, and exists as a campus within a tropical rainforest. The university is pursuing their 'campus-within-a-forest' design using biopgilic design principles within a secondary rainforest, which will contribute to climate change mitigation, combat rising urban temperatures and foster biodiversity. The university has a mandate to prioritize financing green technology development, sustainable financing and investment, and the and physical space to do so: the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). CREATE was built as a green model campus (within the main campus), and hosts various research groups concerned with the intersection of climate, public health and technological development.
