Institutional Approach

The Royal Danish Academy's institutional scope is architecture, design and conservation. They run a variety of innovative projects concering sustainability in design and education for sustainable design. For example, in the SOLUTIONS 2020 project, 225 graduates presented their vision for how architects and designers can address climate challenges. In Visualizing Sustainability, 12 projects investigated approaches to data visualization in the fields of architecture, design and conservation with a focus on sustainability and green transitions. The institute offers several innovative sustainability study programs programs such as a Master's program in Political Architecture: Critical Sustainability; the Architecture and Extreme Environments Programme; Cultural Heritage, Transformation and Conservation; and Fashion, Clothing and Textiles - New Landscapes for Change. They also offer training and seminars on topics such as biophilic design, nature-connectedness, and architecture and design for the planetary boundaries.
