Universitas Gadjah Mada has an institutional mission to foster sustainability in teaching, education and community service, and has established a university SDG center to concentrate these efforts. The SDG center's aim is in "creating current and future SDG implementers, demonstrating how to support, adopt and implement SDGs, and developing partnerships and leadership between sectors to guide in responding to SDGs." The university's aim is for the SDG Center to become a center of excellence in implementing the SDGs in education and teaching, and foster partnerships between the central and regional governments and other stakeholders in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the SDGs. Action research projects concerning Education for Sustainable Development among the university community have been undertaken, and the unversity offers a collaborative Master's program in Sustainability Management.
