The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) has implemented an innovative circular campus model, combining urban development with a strong commitment to urban agroecology, agroforestry, and the management of nature and biodiversity. Through its Healthy and Sustainable Campus Plan, the university aims to foster collaboration among education, research, and campus administration. This synergistic approach drives innovation and facilitates participation in cross-disciplinary initiatives that directly benefit the university community and its physical environment. At the heart of this initiative is a unique living laboratory on the campus, which focuses on educational practices in agroforestry and agroecology. In addition to students, practicing farmers and professionals in sustainable agriculture are included through the post-graduate diploma training program in Local Agroecological Dynamization. This program was established in direct response to the prevailing agricultural paradigm in Spain, aiming to provide essential training to support local food sovereignty and the empowerment of small, local agricultural stakeholders.
