Institutional Approach

The University of Bologna takes a holistic approach to university operations framed around the SDGs, with the SDGs fully embedded into the university's strategic plans as both goals as well as management and operational principles. As one of the first universities globally to do so, the University of Bologna has been measuring its performance via the SDGs since 2016, and publishing its performance in an annual report. The University's commitment to sustainable development is manifested in the Multicampus Sostenibile project, which focuses attention on the needs and habits of the university community in the transition to sustainability, and the environment and the mutual relationship between it and the community. Within the four pillars of Energy, Mobility, Enviornment and People, practical projects, forums and initiatives are developed.
