The University of Bonn takes a whole-institute governance approach which embeds sustainability in all aspects of the university. The vice-rectorate for sustainability coordinates the university-wide sustainability unit, and links to the green office for operational activities (i.e. achieving carbon-neutrality and publishing and maintaining a sustainability monitor) and events. A new urban quarter campus has been designed which is integrated with established surrounding urban gardens, using biophilic design principles.
This atlas is intended to grow and evolve in a spirit of co-creation with the international higher education community. We encourage you to submit examples of sustainability approaches or initiatives at your own or other institutes.
