Institutional Approach

The University of Connecticut takes a whole-institution approach, with a particular emphasis on funding student-led bottom-up environmental justice initiatives via the Environmental and Social Sustainability Small Grants Program. A comprehensive climate action plan, covering green campus approaches and ambitious carbon-reduction strategies, also includes the expansion of environmental living-learning communities, living lab approaches focused on the campus farm and building energy audits, and green job training programs (learning communities).
