The University of Foggia, Italy has experimented with back casting to achieve the 2030 SDGs – identifying which specific actions were required to meet the university’s sustainability goals, as well as advance their governance approach to sustainability. For example, this led to the implementation of innovative land-use and mobility policies for the university. Foggia has also centered their ‘Third Mission’ as a key pillar and organizational unit of the university, which takes its form a wide variety of public and community engagement activities and programmes and continuing/open education.
