Institutional Approach

The University of Glasgow takes a comprehensive whole-institute approach a with wide-reaching sustainability strategy. The comprehensive sustainability strategy, which includes decarbonization, divestment and circular operations, is overseen by the Sustainability Strategy and Delivery Board (SSDB), whose internal working groups ensure all parts of the university have clear access to and ability to meet sustainability targets, reporting directly to the university’s senior management group. The Center for Sustainable Solutions facilitates transdisciplinary sustainability research, and supports all faculties in embedding sustainability into education. They have developed a multitude of in-person and MOOC courses on sustainability literacy. They also offer fully funded professional development courses for other societal members on Climate and Carbon Literacy and Climate Change & Sustainable Decision Making.
