The University of Oregeon hosts a “Sustainable Cities Initiative” to tackle local sustainability challenges. For the educational component, the transdisciplinary “Sustainable City Year Program” identifies one key sustainability challenge such as urban design, economic development or community engagement, and matches students from over 30 courses across multiple disciplines with societal partners. Students carry out research projects in co-production with community stakeholders, and publicly present their results.
